The house sits on a large manicured corner lot with old growth trees and is embellished with a manicured, formal garden. Originally 33 feet in diameter with only 700 square feet of living space that required custom-built curved furniture, the Round House is now ready for 21st century living with over 2,400 square feet and a sophisticated layout.
The rear circumference of the house was artistically ‘pulled out’ by 12 feet to create an expansive kitchen/living area. The first floor now boasts a kitchen, half bath, coat closet, and laundry room. The second story has four bedrooms, including a master bedroom that extends into the new addition.
The original spiral staircase was narrow and furniture was lifted to the second floor through the upstairs windows. The new modern staircase is a standard 4-foot wide stairway lit by an innovative central skylight.
The fish-scale cedar shingles of the original were carefully preserved as the exterior paint was updated to reflect today’s style.
